DANIEL RAMPULLA
I photograph queer men that I think are beautiful. Though I agree that most of my subjects do not look traditionally masculine in their appearance, it is in fact their confidence with their body and way of life that I am interested in capturing, both for the photograph and myself. These beautiful men intrigue me for how much they frighten me. I want to be like them, but, of course, I cannot. So, instead I capture moments where they are like me; moments where, perhaps they are thinking the same thoughts as me. I attempt to find myself within them and as a result, each photograph becomes a self portrait.
